Here is one way of finding out if your email account is spamming people with virus.
In your contact list add a bogus/fictitious email like XXXX@hehehe.com or something similar so when the virus sends out an email to all the people in your contact list the bogus email account will also get sent the same. As a result you will receive an email notification of a failed mail attempt which will confirm that your email account was hacked or infected. You can then proceed to change your password and run a virus scan.
